Southside FC, a new soccer club with a commitment to excellence and community engagement, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Club Journalist Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship provides a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in sports journalism within the context of a grassroots soccer club.

Internship Overview:

As a Club Journalist Intern, you will be an integral part of our communications team, contributing to the creation of engaging content for the club's website and assisting with match-day coverage. This internship is designed to provide an opportunity for aspiring journalists to build their portfolio for their career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Creation:

  • Produce 1-2 articles per week for the club's website during the off-season.

  • Generate 2-3 articles per week for the website during the regular season.

  • Develop written content that captures the essence of the team and resonates with the fan base.

• Matchday Coverage:

  • Attend and assist in covering all 18 games throughout the season.

  • May be asked to conduct pre-match and post-match interviews with players, coaches, and staff.

  • Collaborate with the team to capture and report on key moments and highlights.

• Learning and Development:

  • Gain experience in building the day-to-day operations of a grassroots soccer club's media department.

  • Receive constructive feedback on your work to support your professional growth.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a journalism, communications, or related program at a college or university.

• Strong passion for soccer and a basic understanding of the sport.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
